Curling Ice

Golden Bears and Pandas

Building on a tradition of athletic excellence, curling is the newest varsity sport at the University of Alberta. The inclusion of curling as a varsity sport coincides with the establishment of the CIS/CCA Curling Championships, and creates tremendous opportunities for student-athletes.

Golden Bears & Pandas Curling brings together outstanding coaching, a well-balanced schedule, and world-class facilities. These elements give us the opportunity to become the premier university curling program in the country, and we would like you to share in our success!

Meet our Coaching Staff

Rob Krepps is the Head Coach of our National Training Centre, and has been on the coaching staff at 3 World Championships and at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver.

Garry Coderre is an Assistant Coach at our National Training Centre, and has an impressive coaching record in both junior and university curling where he has coached provincially and nationally.

A World-Class Facility
The Golden Bears and Pandas play out of the Saville Community Sports Centre, which is one of the finest curling facilities in the world. In addition to its reputation for providing outstanding playing conditions, the Saville Community Sports Centre has recently been designated as a National Training Centre by the Canadian Curling Association.

As members of our National Training Centre, varsity curlers have access to a state-of-the-art, 18-camera, technical analysis system that is installed permanently in our ice area. They also have the opportunity to make regular use of a well-equipped fitness centre that overlooks our curling facility.
